Volunteer work

Whether you are a professional or a student, you will be able to find a project in a field that will suit your interests, experience or studies.

We are currently looking for volunteers who can help us with the following projects.

 You will assist the school teachers with regards to lesson plans and teaching the curriculum.

You can submit a project of your own interest to do in our education centre; of course it will have to fit in with our vision.

 Volunteer requirements

• At least age 18 years (no maximum age limit)
• Good English
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism
• Ability or ready to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Ability or ready to adjust to difficult living and working conditions
• Should be able to work in teams when there is the need.
• Ability or ready to respect and abide by the rules of our activities.

Project duration: No duration limit

Dates: Placements available year round

Location: Berekum (Nanasuano – Benkasa) is about 45 – 50mins drive from Sunyani the Regional capital of the Bono Region of Ghana: GPS : 7.413, -2.6399

Volunteers from outside Ghana

Deposit fee

A deposit Fee of 200 USD is required to secure placement and is non refundable.  This deposit fee will go towards your pick up package upon your arrival. What the pick up package includes is a driver to pick you up from the airport, some food and a place to stay your first night, along with a ride to the bus station the next morning and other spending money for your journey to the school. If you bring your own phone along you will also be provided a mobile SIM card number upon arrival to contact your family and friends. If you choose to cancel your visit then this deposit amount will turn into a donation for the school.

Volunteers will be provided with a room throughout the duration of their stay. Depending on the number of volunteers it may be a shared room. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at the school, however the volunteer will be responsible for their own dinner.

You will need to write a volunteer report covering the period of placement.

Health and Safety

Ghana is one of the safest countries in Africa. It provides a perfect introduction for first time volunteers to Africa. It has a democratic electoral process and a stable economy. Our team will ensure your health and safety at all times and you’ll have emergency support 24/7.

Flights

Volunteers must arrange their own flights to Accra Airport (ACC). Please be aware that you should communicate your arrival date and time to us.

Visa

You must obtain a volunteer visa for travel to Ghana. Once you have secured your place on the project and made a deposit. We will then send you a letter confirming your placement, which you can use for your visa application.

Vaccination

You must vaccinate against yellow fever to enter Ghana. All other vaccinations are a personal choice.
